Newfoundland Film Schools
Film and Video Production DIPLOMA This program is designed to prepare students to pursue new employment opportunities in the Film and Video Production industry and to produce quality entertainment and documentary products which reflect Newfoundland and Labrador’s unique cultural heritage. Graduates will also be positioned to avail of opportunities that arise nationally or internationally. The film and video field encompasses the use of cameras, lighting and audio equipment, editing facilities and digital effects equipment. Areas of instruction include the history and evolution of the film industry, photography, screening and peer critique, cinematography, and rigging and grip. The primary focus of the program is to prepare students to perform the technical tasks associated with film-making. Expressed another way, graduates will be well-positioned to perform all of the tasks that occur behind the camera, while the acting and related talents that occur in front of the camera will be left to other specialized training programs.
